Chicago – Valley Hospice has been selected by Modern Healthcare as one of the 2025 Best Places to Work in Healthcare. The complete list of this year’s winners, in alphabetical order, is available at ModernHealthcare.com/bestplaceslist. Modern Healthcare will publish a special supplement featuring a ranked list of all the winners along with the October 13, 2025, issue of MH magazine.

“Being recognized as a 2025 Best Place to Work in Healthcare is a powerful testament to how these organizations value their people,” said Dan Peres, President of Modern Healthcare. “In a time of constant change and challenge, this year’s winners have shown a deep commitment to creating environments where employees feel supported, heard, and inspired to do their best work. That kind of culture doesn’t happen by accident — it’s intentional, and it’s worth celebrating.”

“Employees are the organization's most valuable asset, and if you treat them right, anything is possible,” said Natalie Bolock, Chief People Officer of Valley Hospice. “Being named one of Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work is incredibly meaningful. It’s a goal that has lived quietly in the back of our minds for many years, not for recognition, but because we want our employees to feel valued.”

This award program identifies and recognizes outstanding employers in the healthcare industry nationwide. Modern Healthcare partners with Workforce Research Group on the assessment process, which includes an extensive employee survey.

“At Valley Hospice, our team pours their heart and soul into this work,” said Andrea Hale, Valley Hospice CEO. “They walk into homes, nursing facilities, and hospitals and bring comfort, dignity, and hope, ensuring that no one faces the end of life alone. This work is sacred, and it can be heavy. Our employees deserve a culture that lifts them up, supports them fully, and inspires them to come to work each day knowing they are seen, appreciated, and empowered. This recognition reflects who we are together. And it reaffirms our ongoing commitment to cultivating a workplace where people can grow, connect, and truly thrive.”

Valley Hospice will find out their ranking on the Best Places list and be celebrated at the 2025 Best Places to Work in Healthcare Awards Gala taking place Oct. 8 in Nashville, TN. Information about the gala is available at ModernHealthcare.com/BestPlacesGala.

Valley Hospice Receives Grant to Support Caring Connections Palliative Care

Valley Hospice recently received a generous grant to support their Caring Connections Palliative Care Program, offering new opportunities to expand care and support for patients and families across the region. While the donor has chosen to remain unnamed, their contribution will have a meaningful impact—helping to provide comfort, dignity, and specialized care to patients and families during life’s most challenging moments.

“We are deeply grateful for this extraordinary gift. This $150,000 donation ensures that our growing community-based palliative care program can continue to meet the expanding needs of those we serve,” said Andrea Hale, Valley Hospice CEO.  “Because of this generosity, more individuals and families in our community will have access to specialized care that focuses not just on managing serious illness, but on comfort, dignity, and meaningful conversations about what matters most.”

Caring Connections Palliative Care is the area’s only in-home palliative care program. The program aims to help patients feel better and cope with the stress of living with a serious illness, improving the quality of life of both the patient and their family. The palliative care team works to anticipate, prevent and relieve suffering related to a serious illness or the side effects of treatment.

“As the first provider to bring this level of palliative care into our community, we see every day the difference it makes—relieving suffering, guiding families through difficult decisions, and helping people find peace in uncertain moments,” said Hale. “We are honored to carry this work forward and are eager to reach even more people who need support, compassion, and guidance in their goals of care. This anonymous donor’s kindness will touch countless lives, and for that, we are profoundly thankful.”

This grant funding will allow Caring Connections Palliative Care to hire an additional nurse practitioner, enabling them to expand the range of services available to patients and families across the Ohio Valley.

Valley Hospice has been caring for patients for more than 40 years. Their specially trained, compassionate staff has cared for thousands of patients, allowing them to spend their final months wherever they call home, surrounded by their loved ones in accordance with their wishes. Valley Hospice maintains an unwavering commitment to providing care to every patient in need of their services, regardless of their ability to pay.
